The Southampton Race of Hope is a 5K (3.1 mile) race.
Yes, this is a walker-friendly event for all ages and abilities to complete at their own unique pace.
Durring Race of Hope in-person live events, wheels do not count unless you are a handchair athlete planning to complete the entire distance in your chair. During Race of Hope virtual events, you may use any wheels of your choice to complete your distance.
A volunteers will serve multiple roles throughout the event starting with setup to clean up. We graciously ask participants to choose to race or volunteer, not both. If you wish to volunteer and race, consider gifting your time at early packet pick up the day before the event.
For Race of Hope events, Racers are not offered a gear bag check service. You should only bring items that you can carry on your person, leave with a friend, or store in your vehicle.
However, gear check is available for volunteers, though it's advised not to leave anything valuable, as Race of Hope isn't liable for lost or stolen items left in their gear check service.
Race distance trackers are not needed for Race of Hope in-person "live" events as chip timing from a professional timing company is provided as part of your destination race experience. If you are interested in saving your race data for later metrics review, we do recommend using a tracking device. Fitness devices and apps also make it easier for you to know approximately where you are on the race route at a glance, but their use is not required.
