The below FAQs will provide answers to common questions. If you can't find the information you are seeking, please contact us for help.

  • What gear size & style will I receive in my race packet?
    The first 950 to collect a race packet will receive a commemorative race pullover/jacket, shirt, hat, and bib in their race packet. Sizes are offered first-come-first-served based upon packet pick up arrival in line. If your requested size is no longer available, we’ll offer your second size choice, and then the next closest available size. Gear style may change based upon availability. After all race packets with gear are no longer available, no only vintage gear will be offered. All participants will receive a chipped race bib and a Finisher medal upon race completion.
  • What happens after race registrations sell out?
    We are not limiting race registrations.
  • Can I get a refund if I do not receive my requested gear size(s)?
    Sorry, no refunds will be issued related to gear sizes. We really want you to have gear in your perfect size so that you can enjoy wearing it for years to come! We encourage you to attend packet pick up early to enjoy greatest selection of available sizes when our team fulfills your race packet order. Sizes are offered first come first served. Please also be sure to use the size chart to help you request the best fit. Race of Hope gear is swoon worthy and events sell out quickly. As with many national races, our gear sizes are not guaranteed & offered on a first come first served basis.
  • Does this event offer refunds?
    Sorry, no refunds will be issued. 100% of all proceeds go directly to depression research. The only exception will be if our system erroneously oversells the maximum available race registrations after they event has sold out. Learn more in the FAQs by searching, "What happens after race registrations sell out?". If you have questions about remaining race packets, please contact us before you register.
  • What is the official social media hashtag [#] for Race of Hope events?
    Thank you for helping to share our mission! Please use #iRaceForHope on social media to link your posts, photos, and videos to the Race of Hope mission! We can't wait to see your messages and post race excitement!
  • What Top Fundraising prize will I receive?
    Top fundraiser winners in each prize category will receive a Hope for Depression Research Foundation prize pack. Only one prize category may be won per participant, per event, and prizes and prize style may change based upon availability. Prizes may be awarded at the event or arrive separately up to three weeks after the event's race registration closes.
  • What portion of my race registration fee will be used to fund research?
    100% of all race and fundraising proceeds go directly to depression research.
  • Can I walk the race?
    Yes, this is a walker-friendly event for all ages and abilities to complete at their own unique pace.
  • Can I complete my race distance on a bicycle or skates?
    Durring Race of Hope in-person live events, wheels do not count unless you are a handchair athlete planning to complete the entire distance in your chair. During Race of Hope virtual events, you may use any wheels of your choice to complete your distance.
  • Do I have to wear my race bib?
    For an in-perosn "live" race, every participant must wear their assigned chipped bib. For Race of Hope virtual events, while not required, we encourage you to recreate the race day experience by wearing your bib when you complete your Race of Hope miles. Plus, if you dedicate your race to someone, writing their name on your bib helps to add powerful motivation throughout your chosen virtual race distance.
  • What if I do not receive my race bib before race day?
    All in-person "live" race participants must pick up their assigned race bib and wear it prior to entering the starting line corral. Virtual race participants may choose to complete their distance without wearing a bib.
  • How can I see the race results?
    Race of Hope in-person events post race results online. Virtual events no longer offer a Leaderboard to post your own results.
  • What will be included in my race packet?
    The first 600 to pick up their race packet will receive a commemorative race pullover/jacket, shirt, & hat in their race packet. All participants will receive a chipped bib at packet pickup. All race participants will earn a Finisher medal once their race distance is completed. Sizes are offered first-come-first-served. If your requested size is no longer available, we’ll next try to provide your second size choice, and then the next closest available size. Based upon availability, gear style may change.
  • Will I earn a Finisher medal?
    Yes, all race participants will be awarded an incredible Finisher medal when they cross the finish line.
  • What is the race distance?
    The Southampton Race of Hope is a 5k distance.
  • Will you ship my race packet to me if I live outside the U.S.A.?
    At this time, shipping is only available for Virtual race events to addresses within the U.S.A.
  • Do I need to utilize a GPS tracker to participate?
    Race distance trackers are not needed for Race of Hope in-person "live" events as chip timing from a professional timing company is provided as part of your destination race experience. If you are interested in saving your race data for later metrics review, we do recommend using a tracking device. Fitness devices and apps also make it easier for you to know approximately where you are on the race route at a glance, but their use is not required.
  • How much of my registration fee will go to the charity?
    100% of all race and fundraising proceeds go directly to depression research. The Hope for Depression Research Foundation is recognized by the Internal Revenue Service as a not-for-profit public charity (Tax ID 20-4559210), contributions to which are deductible for income and gift tax purposes. All contributions are tax-deductible to the full extent allowed by law.
  • How can I fix an error that I found on the race results?
    Our event crew would be happy to help ensure your race data is correct. If you notice that your name spelling, gender, age division, or time is incorrect, please bring your concern to the attention of the Event Crew at the race right away to ensure that the final race results are accurate. At the event, all results correction requests must be made no later than 15 minutes before the award ceremony. Registrations that were created without a correct birth date or gender are no longer eligible for correction on race day & the participant is not eligible for speed awards consideration. After the time or and no later than 24hrs after the event has wrapped, results data is considered final and no further changes will be made.
  • How do I measure to find my best jacket size?
    Use These Tips To Find Your Fit: Measure the length across your chest from the front edge of each armpit as shown on the vest graphic to find your "CHEST" size. Measure the length down the front of your chest starting from the top of your shoulder to your waist as shown on the vest graphic to find your "LENGTH" size. Find your "CHEST" & "LENGTH" measurement on the "Size Chart". EXAMPLE: 19" Chest & 25-3/4" Length, choose size Large.
  • When do I have to complete my virtual race distance?
    If you select a virtual race option or convert from an in-person registration to a virtual race, you may choose to complete your race distance any date and time you choose.
  • Can I pick up my virtual race packet at the in-person event.
    No. The virtual race is a separate event from the in-person event and our team will not have your virtual registration information. The Virtual race option only offers a shipped race packet. Shipping will begin 2-weeks after the in-person race.
  • Can I switch my virtual race registration to an in-person registration.
    No. The virtual race is a separate event from the in-person event and they are not interchangeable. Refunds are not offered for Race of Hope events.
  • Can I complete my virtual race at an in-person Race of Hope event?
    No. The virtual race is a separate event from the in-person event and they are not interchangeable. Only racers who sign up for the in-person event will be able to run at Race of Hope in-person events.
  • Can I volunteer on race day & also race?
    A volunteers will serve multiple roles throughout the event starting with setup to clean up. We graciously ask participants to choose to race or volunteer, not both. If you wish to volunteer and race, consider gifting your time at early packet pick up the day before the event.
